An Innovative Partnership
Les Bordes Press Release
Loire Valley, France (24 July, 2023) – Les Bordes Estate and its shareholder, investment fund RoundShield, are proud to announce the next phase of their partnership with Banque des Territoires, a subsidiary of Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (“CDC”), France’s largest sovereign wealth fund. Following an early 2021 agreement to jointly finance designs for Six Senses Loire Valley, Banque des Territoires will invest significant capital in the development, adding to the many tourist amenities afforded by Les Bordes Estate and the destination. Representing an investment of €270 million and creating 400 new jobs, the project will bring an exceptional five-star hotel and spa to the estate, featuring 50 guestrooms and suites, three restaurants, pools, and elevated amenities, as well as 52 Six Senses Residences, all managed by Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, one of the world’s most luxurious hospitality brands, owned by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). The partnership with Banque des Territoires marks an important step in enriching the tourism and homeownership offerings in the Loire Valley region.
An Innovative Partnership: Les Bordes Estate x Banque des Territoires
Further, the arrival of Six Senses Loire Valley to Les Bordes Estate amplifies tourism in the region, which boasts an immense cultural, architectural, and natural heritage and has been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site for over 20 years. Such a large-scale venture is perfectly aligned with Banque des Territoires’ investment mission to promote France’s economic development and support the sustainable success of its regional tourism projects. Together, Les Bordes Estate and Banque des Territoires aim to create an exemplary and innovative development that protects and honors the ecosystem and natural surroundings of Les Bordes Estate. This partnership also comes on the heels of an agreement signed between the Grand Chambord region and Banque des Territoires in February 2022 that commits to strengthening their collaboration surrounding the region’s development and eco-responsible tourism.
“The tourism developments at Les Bordes Estate are so tremendous for this region,” said Antoine Troesch, Chief Investment Officer of Banque des Territoires at Caisse des Dépôts. “Located in the heart of the idyllic Loire Valley, it is an exceptional place poised for new luxury accommodations and amenities catered to travelers and residents from near and far. Since its inception, this project has received the support of the Banque des Territoires in close collaboration with local authorities, who see it as a lever for international influence and the creation of sustainable jobs. It meets all of the stringent environmental requirements we’ve outlined, including renewable energy sources that limit greenhouse gas emissions.”
In light of this shared ambition, Six Senses Loire Valley will seek BREEAM certification, a standard that evaluates the quality of a building from an environmental and sustainability perspective, considering criteria on energy and water consumption, pollution and waste management, the use of innovative processes and sustainable transportation, people management, and the health and wellbeing of occupants.
“We are delighted to partner with Banque des Territoires to expand upon the Les Bordes Estate lifestyle with a unique hotel and residential offering. Their investment thesis ideally aligns with our vision for the estate. We are developing a destination that will become a key tourism hub for the region, and we are excited to have Banque des Territoires accompany us on this journey,” said Driss Benkirane, managing partner of RoundShield.
