The Garden of France
The Loire Valley is a vibrant region celebrated for its natural beauty and rich history, and Les Bordes is the perfect base from which to enjoy it. The region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its historic châteaux, majestic Loire river and agricultural legacy.
Over 300 Châteaux at your doorstep
For centuries, the region’s strategic location and breathtaking scenery has captured the imagination of some of the most prominent and powerful figures in European history. This history of wealth and power exudes in the grandeur of the various châteaux within the region, as well as in the towns along the Loire River; most notably Orléans, Blois, Amboise and Tours.
Cuisine & Michelin star restaurants
Fine French food is a way of life and the Centre-Val de Loire region enjoys 22 local Michelin-starred restaurants. This is no surprise, since the valley, with its rich soil and agricultural heritage, offers some of the freshest and most delectable French produce. From rustic country fare to sophisticated gastronomic delights, there’s something to satisfy every palate. Some of our top recommendations are Fleur de Loire, a Christophe Hay restaurant at the banks of the Loire River and Le Grand Saint Michel, a stunning bistronomic restaurant and an ode to traditional French cuisine, located on the grounds of Chambord overlooking the stunning château.
Vineyards & wine tasting
The Loire Valley is not only a feast for the eyes but also the palate, with some of the finest wines in the world being produced across the region. Stretching along the river and covering over 185,000 acres, it is the longest wine route in the whole of France, and more than a thousand of these vineyards are open to the public. The winemakers of the Loire Valley are not just masters of their craft; they are also stewards of the land. There’s a strong commitment to organic and biodynamic farming practices here, ensuring that the wines are not only delicious but also produced with a respect for the surrounding nature.
Towns & Villages
Although it enjoys seclusion in nature, the Estate is just a 10 minute drive from the medieval village of Beaugency, where you can find restaurants, shops, cafés and delightful riverside walks. You can find even more history, culture and activities in Blois (40 minute drive), Orléans (30 minute drive) and Tours (1 hour 15 minute drive).
There are numerous activities available just a short distance from Les Bordes, including parks, museums and zoos, which provide compelling insights on local art, culture and natural history
The Loire River is a fantastic source of entertainment, whether your high above it on a sunrise hot air balloon tour, or sailing along it at your own pace. Watersports enthusiasts can enjoy paddleboarding or kayaking, whether solo or on a guided tour. For a more leisurely experience, consider one of the many boat tours that let you hop on and off at different spots along the river. You might also treat yourself to a romantic sunset wine tasting, savoring the region's finest wines aboard a traditional wooden sailing boat.
5,000km Cycle Routes
One of the most unique aspects of the region is its famous La Loire à Vélo - a cyling trail stretching the entire length of the region, allowing you to ride from town to town on the banks of the Loire. There's no better way to explore this truly authentic part of France.
