Worldwide Top 100 Course designed by Gil Hanse
One of GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses Worldwide, the New Course was opened in July 2021 - designed by Gil Hanse, the architect of some of the world’s most celebrated restorations and new courses. Gil Hanse’s portfolio includes Castle Stuart and Ohoopee Match Club, as well as extensive restorations of several U.S. Open venues including Winged Foot, The Country Club and Los Angeles Country Club. In addition, Gil Hanse has restored or renovated more than twenty courses perennially included on Top 100 lists including Merion and Fishers Island in the United States and prestigious international clubs such as Royal Sydney and Tokyo Golf Club.
Developed on sandy soil with abundant natural fescue and broom, the New Course, in contrast to the Old Course, plays firm and fast with wide playing corridors framed by heather. The ideal way to navigate these holes is more subtle than the Old Course, revealing itself over time as one gains familiarity and experience of the layout. The Hanse design is a walking course, measuring 6,755 yards from the Member tees with a short walking distance from the greens to the next tees; however, the course stretches to 7,285 yards for medal and match play competitions or for those who seek out a sterner test.
"There are elements of a number of golf courses including a lot of the great heathland courses around London and several heathland courses around Paris. I think that Jim Wagner and I are always influenced by Pine Valley, which is very near to us here at home, and I think that some of the scale of National Golf Links is apparent out there. If you roll all of those into one, I think that's a pretty good recipe."

Robert Van Hagge’s original masterpiece
The Old Course has been consistently ranked amongst the top three courses in Europe over the past 30 years.
Completed in 1987, the Old Course is a classic tree-lined, 7,044-yard (6,441 meters) par-72 course, that carves its way through the Sologne Forest. Intertwined with a stunning complex of lakes that offer a sublimely serene setting as well as defining some of the most challenging holes on the course, the Old Course is widely considered to represent modern architecture at its very best.
"Les Bordes is undoubtedly the most celebrated golf course I’ve had the privilege to work on... Les Bordes possesses an inexplicable, but tangible, soul; which is authentic and addicting. Everyone connected with the place, everyone who visits, experiences this. And, once you have experienced it, it is impossible to be indifferent about your feelings for Les Bordes."

Ranked in the Top 25 Short Courses in the World
In addition to the Old and New Courses at Les Bordes, there is a 10 hole par three course called The Wild Piglet.
Built adjacent to the New Course, The Wild Piglet was unveiled to Members in late 2020 and has proven to be extremely popular; a perfect way to introduce juniors to golf and for Members to sharpen their short game.
The Wild Piglet has been ranked in the Top 25 Short Courses in the World by Golf Magazine.
“The Wild Piglet was a joy to create. We wanted to design a course that would be playful and accessible for all skill levels, but still offer strategic interest and a real sense of fun. Each hole is unique, and the setting at Les Bordes makes it a truly special experience for anyone who loves golf.”
